This is how I turn photos into Frozen Buttercream Transfers. I start by printing a copy of the image out in black and white. I also print the image in reverse (mirror image) so that when it is placed on the cake it is facing the same way as the original photo. This is especially important if the image you are using includes writing. Then I take a black marker and trace over all the major lines.

I place a piece of parchment paper over the picture. Because I traced the lines I can easily see where I need to trace. I trace the lines with black buttercream in a parchment triangle.

Then I add all the accent colors in the picture. I started with the white for this one.

Then I filled in the black of the tires and the silver of the bumpers, hubs and everywhere else I need it.

Then I start filling the car in maroon and the windows in blue.

After I have filled in all the colors, I add more frosting to the back and gently spread the frosting to make my trasfer smooth and level being careful not to press to hard and blur my traced lines.

Now it is ready to be placed in the freezer!

This is about how thick it is. I have done them too thick and they stand up to high on the cake. This is the thickness I aim for.

After it has been in the freezer for about 10 to 15 minutes I take it out and pick it up off the parchment paper and turn it over. I used to turn it over onto the cake and then pull the parchment paper off but I have had better luck just removing it from the paper and placing it on the cake where I want. Just handle it quickly as your hands will begin to thaw it immediately.

It is complete and ready to be placed on the cake!
